Business Model

To explore the business model development and strategic management of this product, as well as to analyze its potential market value, our team conducted an in-depth evaluation of existing ingredient management systems. We found that although many current solutions offer features such as real-time reminders and expiration tracking, they often require users to manually input ingredient names, quantities, and expiration dates. This process is time-consuming and inconvenient. Moreover, these systems are unable to replicate human sensory judgment—such as visual inspection, smell, and touch—to assess food freshness, which reduces user willingness to adopt them in real-world scenarios. In response, the “Food Guardian” system adopts a progressive development strategy. It initially focuses on highly recognizable and commonly used items—such as vegetables, beverages, and packaged foods—to reduce system complexity and minimize recognition errors. At the same time, image recognition is introduced to assist data input, allowing users to capture photos and automatically generate basic information, significantly reducing manual input. From the perspectives of usability, interaction design, and functional development, our system demonstrates clear advantages over existing ingredient management tools in the market.
